International Children’s Games: Richard Smith met with volunteers

Secretary General of ICG Richard Smith met with volunteers within the  frames of working visit.

He met with volunteers who started training on the basis of M. Akmulla BSPU. The event was also attended by the Head of the Directorate of ICG – 2019 Sergey Stepanov, Vice-President of the chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Bashkortostan Azat Fazlyev, member of the ICG Committee Andrey Krivosheev and several hundred volunteers who applied for participation in the Games.

In his welcoming speech, Richard Smith spoke about the history of the Games and shared his experience of the competition. He particularly stressed the importance of volunteers at the Games and noted that he himself began working at the International children's games as a volunteer translator.

«This is my tenth visit to Ufa, over the years I have made many friends in your hospitable city» Richard Smith said. «But, I've never made so many friends within one meeting. Today we have not an official dialogue, but a free form of communication, because you are now my friends».

At the end of the meeting, volunteers asked the guests questions and took pictures. Then they started classes in groups, where they studied peculiarities of the cultures of the countries from which athletes will come from to the summer Games.
