Ufa Muslims celebrate Kurban-bayram

Muslims celebrate one of the most significant Islam holidays – Kurban-bayram. On August 11, early in the morning festive sermonys in all Ufa mosques took place. Then, festive event guests and participants headed to the special areas for the religious rites.

Kurban-bayram is the main and most recognizable event in Islamic calendar. It is dedicated to the end of Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) 70 days after another big Islamic event – Uraza-bayram.

Two special areas for religious rites during Kurban-bayram celebration are organized in Ufa – one in front of shopping centre «Karavan» (st. Prigorodnaya, 55), which is located next to Zinino village, the second one on the North bus station area in Ordzhonikidze district.

Such decision was made due to positive result of special common area organization – first such place was organized on the territory of shopping center «Karavan» in 2018 and due to wishes of the residents of the north part of the city to organize an area closer to Chernikovka and Inors neighborhoods.

Ufa Mosques and Muslim organizations hold the ceremony according to all Islam canons, the city and republic veterinary services will not allow sacrificial animals with any disease symptoms to get in the area.

Head of Ufa Administration Ulfat Mustafin expressed appreciation for the preparation and work of the special areas, marking their convenience for the citizens.

After the end of festive sermony, the Regional public organization «Business club «Ferz’» organizes a festive event «Kurban Halal Fest» on the «Vatan» park territory and on the square in front of «Bashkiria» Lifestyle center.

Information

Muslim calendar, which is used to define the dates, includes 12 moon months or 354 days. It’s 10-11 days less, than in Gregorian calendar. It is the reason why the date shifts every year. In 2019 the celebration of this event is on August 11th. Because August 11th is Sunday, it is declared, that August 12th is the festive day off in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
