Young Ufa football players won silver medals in the international «Peace cup» tournament in China.

On August 6-12 in Ufa’s twin-city Shenyang (People’s Republic of China), a fifth Juvenile football tournament «Peace cup» took place.

4 thousand athletes from seven countries participated in the competition. Ten students of the «Football Academy» Olympic reserve school №9 represented Ufa.

They have placed first in the group stage, faced Taiyuan youth football club in the quarterfinal and won with a score 3:2. In the semi-final Ufa football players played against athletes from Xinjiang-Uygur autonomous region and won with a score 1:0. In the tournament final Ufa athletes faced the competition host – team «Ostrich» from China province Zhejiang and lost with a score 1:4.

Thus, Ufa team under the guidance of the coach Leonid Ivakha won silver medals. Athletes from Los Angeles (USA) won bronze medals. Totally 30 teams, including athletes from Ufa, have competed in the age group «U12».

«All teams are worthy and interesting opponents. Participation in this tournament let us gain a valuable experience, show a true team spirit and make friends with kids from other countries» says 12 year old Gaziz Khaibullin.

During the event, the head of Physical Culture and Sport department of Ufa Administration Sergey Stepanov met with the head of Sport department of Shenyang Zhang Xiaoshong. They discussed further cooperation of twin-cities in physical culture and sport.
