Ufa held a sports festival dedicated to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

On November 20, the sports center of the Republic of Bashkortostan held a mass-training event among people with disabilities. The event was dedicated to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and was attended by the teams of disabled persons organizations from Ufa and other regions of the republic.

The event included sitting volleyball, chest press, weight lifting, table tennis, darts, armwrestling, checkers and chess competitions.

Vladimir Gorbunov, the head of the organization of disabled people "MIR" in Ufa said: “There are dozens of teams from all over Bashkortostan participating in the event every year. Our task as providers is to create the atmosphere of the sports festival, where you can win medals and have a word with like-minded people”.

Raihana Failasupova is a participant of the table tennis competition. She has been the head of the Kalininsky district team for 20 years and has won a number of medals.

She says: “I’m a Russian multiple champion of table tennis among disabled people in wheelchairs and have won a number of medals in the swimming national championship. After the accident, I was bedridden for five years. But hard work and sports and dancing love helped me to get back on my feet and live active and full life”.

Prize-winners of competitions were awarded in each kind of the festival with medals and certificates of Management of physical culture and sports of Administration of Ufa. The best teams were awarded with cups.
