More than 14 thousand people bathed in lavers on Christening in Ufa

In Ufa, the Epiphany was celebrated, one of the main Orthodox holidays, which is also associated among most citizens with bathing in ice holes - lavers.

This year, for the first time, lavers were organized in each district of Ufa. For the convenience of residents and guests of the city, an interactive map of places equipped for Epiphany bathing functioned on the official website of the  Ufa city Administration.

On the eve of the celebration of Epiphany, on the night of January 19, the lavers were consecrated and were open for the citizens until 24.00. In total, 14,494 people bathed in the ice holes during this period.

It should be noted that in the places of bathing, the duty of ambulance officers, rescuers, police officers and the city Public Safety Center employees was organized. The lavers themselves were equipped with handrails and stairs to ensure the safety of swimmers when descending to the water. In addition, heating tents for changing clothes, portable toilets, and hot tea catering facilities were installed.

There were no incidents in the places of bathing.
