Every year on February 15, the Russian Federation holds events dedicated to the withdrawal of Soviet troops from the Republic of Afghanistan. In total, from December 25, 1979 to February 15, 1989, more than 9,000 soldiers and officers from the Republic of Bashkortostan passed military service in the troops located on the territory of Afghanistan, more than 300 of them died, 6 people went missing.
A number of events have traditionally been held in Ufa for this date.
Thus, on February 15, at 11.00, a ceremony of laying flowers will be held at the memorial to the Grieving Mother. Veterans of war, representatives of republican and municipal authorities, relatives of military personnel who died in local conflicts, representatives of public organizations, and youth will gather in the square in front of the memorial. They will lay wreaths and flowers and honor the victims with a moment of silence.
Also on this day in the City Palace of Culture will be a gala concert dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. Beginning at 16.00 hours.
Here from 15.00 o 'clock a field kitchen will be organized for guests of the event, and it will be possible to visit exhibitions of search teams, tactical equipment and small arms of the Soviet Army and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the lobby of the Palace of Culture.
The organizers of the events are the Committee on Youth Affairs and the Department of Culture and Art of Ufa Administration, as well as the MBU «Center for Patriotic Education of Youth».
