February 23 is a nationwide holiday uniting all generations of Russians, which symbolizes courage, true patriotism and devotion to the Fatherland. Today we pay tribute to those who serve the Motherland, reliably ensure its safety and recall those who wholeheartedly defended the Fatherland during the years of difficult trials.

This year is special for our country - the year of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Defender of the Fatherland Day marks the start of the celebration of this big anniversary date in our city and serves as another reminder to all of us of the approaching great day in the history of the country, the heroic deed of our people.

In our country, military labor has for centuries enjoyed special honor and respect. In every house, in every family, the holy memory of the heroic past of grandfathers and fathers is carefully preserved.

Service in the Armed Forces requires wide knowledge, great endurance, personal courage, mobilization of all forces. Such qualities at all times distinguished soldiers and officers of our country. Today, the military, continuing the glorious traditions of veterans, are making a worthy contribution to protecting the external interests of the state and peace of our citizens.
