Dear Ufa residents! Dear friends!
Heroes of the Fatherland Day is one of the newest memorable dates in our country, but at the same time it is a continuation of the age-old tradition that existed in the Russian state as the Day of the Knights of St. George. On December 9, 1769, Empress Catherine II established the Order of St. George the Victorious, which was awarded to soldiers who showed special valor and courage and in battle.
Today, this holiday is urged to unite the history of military exploits and Heroes of the Russian Army from the day of its creation to the present day, to remind of those people who performed feats in the name of the Motherland, often at the cost of their own lives.
In Ufa, great attention is paid to maintaining places of memory and pride of our people, military memorials and preserving the memory of veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Names are given to streets, squares and organizations, busts and memorial plaques are installed, burial sites and historical territories are being improved. The memory of 63 Heroes of the Soviet Union and 4 Heroes of the Russian Federation and 9 Full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory has been immortalized, 7 Heroes of the Russian Federation and 1 Hero of the Soviet Union are honored.
The life and work path of these heroic people is a worthy example of true patriotism and service to the Motherland, contributes to the moral and patriotic education of the younger generation. Residents of the capital of Bashkortostan are sincerely proud of their outstanding fellow compatriots and express deep respect!
We congratulate everyone on this significant day and wish you health, prosperity, peace and good!
