Sergey Grekov was elected the chairman of the General Meeting of the founders of the «Ural» volleyball club

On February 13, Ufa hosted a regular session of the General Meeting of Founders of the ANO Professional Sports Volleyball Club «Ural», at which the Head of Ufa City Administration Sergei Grekov was elected its chairman.

In addition to Sergei Grekov, Minister of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Bashkortostan Ruslan Khabibov, President of the «Ural» volleyball club Valery Bagmetov, Director of the Social Target Programs Fund Askar Nugumanov and other guests attended the event.

The decision to elect Sergei Grekov as chairman of the general meeting of the founders of the «Ural» volleyball club was unanimously adopted.

During the meeting, a number of topical issues were considered, including the organization and conduct of the annual volleyball tournament among boys and girls, dedicated to the memory of Ulfat Mansurovich Mustafin, the holding of events in honor of the 25th anniversary of VC «Ural» in the super league of the Russian volleyball championship, construction of a Volleyball Center in the Kalininsky district of Ufa.

After the meeting, the participants watched the match between the Ufa volleyball club «Ural» and the Nizhny Novgorod «ASK». The team from Nizhny Novgorod is one of the main rivals of Ural in the final segment of the championship. The match ended with the score 3:1 in favor of VC «Ural». Thus, the Ufa team interrupted the winning eight-game streak of the Nizhny Novgorod club.

Sergey Grekov congratulated the players of the Ufa club with a worthy result and wished them further success.

The progenitor of the VC «Ural» was the team of the Ufa Aviation Institute, created in 1977.

Since 1992 the club has started in the Championship among the teams of the second league, and since 1996 the team has been playing in the Super League.

Now VC «Ural» is one of the oldest volleyball clubs in Russia. This season for Ufa will be the 25th in a row in the Super League.

Throughout its history, the team has twice entered European cups, fought in the final, and became the silver medalist of the Russian Championship.

The Ural volleyball club system includes three men's teams – «Ural» (Superleague), «Tarkhan» (Vysshaya Liga A, Sterlitamak) and Ural’s Golden Eagles (Youth League). The club is building its own vertical, along which it is already preparing local pupils for the big sport.
