Old houses in Ufa will get a new look

«Tom Sawyer Fest» has started in Ufa - a festival to recreate the historical environment, which was created for those who want to make the city better by putting its appearance in order. This volunteer event, popular throughout Russia, organized in 2015 in Samara, was already held in Ufa in 2018-2019. Then, within its framework, two historic houses on Gogol Street were put in order.

This time, by the anniversary of Ufa, the volunteers are planning to work on the houses on Pushkin Street (the former Golubina Sloboda), opposite the archaeological site Gorodishche Ufa-2, where the Depository for historical finds at these excavations will be built. Work will begin on building No. 131, the residents of which agreed for the house and the fence to be painted and for other minor work.

The Head of Ufa City Administration Ratmir Mavliev greeted the guests of the event.

«We have gathered today for a very pleasant occasion. Back in February, I drew attention to the development of this part of the street. It is clear that major repairs require serious investments. However, sometimes you can put the urban environment in order with some small steps. In the same way, we are putting the October Revolution Street in order so that you can feel comfortable there. Thanks to the organizers for responding to our proposal. I am deeply convinced that we will not limit ourselves to two objects on Pushkin Street - we will make every effort so that it is of a massive nature and everyone who is interested in the development of our capital can participate. For our part, we will try to take care of all organizational issues,» said the mayor of Ufa.

Then Ratmir Mavliev, together with the head of the administration of the Kirovsky district, Ilvir Nurdavlyatov, gave a symbolic start to the festival, starting cleaning the house of old paint with grinders.

Further, the event continued with a tour of the Pushkin Street section, which was conducted by Pavel Egorov, a historian, local historian, senior researcher at the State Budgetary Institution of the Scientific and Practical Center for the Protection of Immovable Cultural Heritage Objects.
