A construction of the Wrestling Centre in Ufa has begun

On August 23, Acting Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov kicked off a construction of the country’s biggest Wrestling Centre. Together with three-time Olympic champion, member of the State Duma of Russian Federation Alexander Karelin and the president of the Russian Wrestling Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili, Acting Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan placed a time capsule with a letter to the future generation in the foundation of the building.

Vice-President of the United Wrestling World Akhrol Ruziev, Head of Ufa Administration Ulfat Mustafin, ministers of the Republic and other honorable guests took part in the event.

Radiy Khabirov told that he wanted to build a Wrestling Palace as a tribute to this sport and great coaches, who brought up outstanding athletes, for a long time.  

«It will be a home to all the wrestlers of the republic. With a single heart we decided to pay our respect to the great wrestler, great man, son of a Bashkir nation Vladimir Alekseyevich Borman and decided to name the new palace after him. He did so much for our republic, for the wrestling of Russian Federation and, mostly, a number of unique, great people, of whom we are proud today. I assure you, this palace will be one of the best and demanded sport facilities of our republic,» said Acting Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

The president of the Russian Wrestling Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili congratulated the residents of the region with this remarkable event.

«I am sure, great champions, true patriots will be born here» he said.

«I am glad, that one more sport symbol is appearing in Bashkortostan, where wrestling traditions are incredibly strong, have historical and folk roots» marked in his speech Deputy of the State Duma Alexander Karelin.

Wrestling Centre with the square of 29 thousand sq. m. will be located in «Glumilino» microdistrict. It will comprise all-purpose sport-concert hall for 3400 spectators, 19 wrestling carpets, children’s sport school, a hotel, conference hall and other utility spaces. The finish of the construction is planned in 2021.

«This object was designed for almost a year. We wanted it to be necessary for the Russian Wrestling Federation, so that it can hold events of the highest level. Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, sambo, judo, national wrestling kuresh will be held here. The future of our republic will be created here» said Radiy Khabirov.

The Head of the region added that at present, together with the Russian Wrestling Federation, the issue of holding a world championship among juniors in Greco-Roman, freestyle and women's wrestling in Ufa in 2021 is being worked out.
