On June 30, as part of the International Urban Forum «Territory of the Future. A look from the heart of Eurasia» a round table was held on the topic «What kind of stadium does the city need? », in which Ulfat Mustafin, Head of Ufa Administration, spoke.

In addition, the event’s speakers were Chairman of the Board of Trustees of FC «Ufa» Rostislav Murzagulov, Russian sports journalist and television commentator Vasily Utkin, president of FC «Torpedo Moscow» Denis Maslov, deputy general director of the «Arena» Design Institute of Unique Structures, architect Alexei Orlov, Slovenian footballer, FC «Ufa» defender Boyan Jokich, and project manager of «Ingrad» Group Kirill Gridnev. The moderator of the round table was «Match TV» commentator Nobel Arustamyan.

The main item on the agenda of the section was the thesis that the modern stadium is not only a sports facility, but also a multifunctional public space, which is becoming an important element of the urban environment.

«The stadium of the future is a place of mass physical education. It should be a complex building where everyone could try themselves in the widest possible range of disciplines, reveal personal preferences, bring a child, and gain new experience. » said Ulfat Mustafin.

In addition, as part of his speech, the Head of Administration said that currently more than 440 thousand people are engaged in physical education and sports in the city of Ufa. This is 44% of the population of Ufa.

«Today various sports such as hockey, volleyball, soccer, handball, skiing, speedway, wrestling are popular in Ufa. To one degree or another, each kind of sport is provided with its own platform. In the near future, the Volleyball Center, the Wrestling Center, as well as the Gymnastics Center will be built. In 2019, we built the Sports Training Center, the Short Track Center, a new pool, and also, after major repairs, opened the «Neftyanik» pool, »said Ulfat Mustafin.

As part of the round table, examples of the work of the largest stadiums in the country were considered: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara and other cities. At the same time, special attention was paid to the maintenance and effective year-round operation of sports arenas.

The participants agreed that in the process of building the city stadium and developing the infrastructure around it, it is necessary to observe a balance of interests of all categories - residents, business, city authorities - even at the time of the development of the territory planning project.

Also during the discussion, participants noted the high potential of FC «Ufa» and discussed the prospects of building a new sports arena.

«I want to note the achievement of Ufa. There is a team FC «Ufa», which is already causing interest among western investors due to its professionalism. The team shows very good results. High-quality, professional work is already a very serious achievement, » said Vasily Utkin.

During a subsequent press approach, Ulfat Mustafin noted that the geographical location of the current stadium of FC «Ufa» does not quite suit the citizen.

«Yes, a new arena is needed, but it must be multifunctional. There should be both professional and mass sports - the arena should be accessible to all residents. While it is difficult to talk about the timing of construction, several sites are being considered. The planned capacity is up to 20 thousand people, » summed up the Head of the Administration.
